It is with pride and gratitude that we took part in the evening of the DUX Awards, held on January 30 at Bonsecours Market in Montreal. DUX is 500 active leaders in our industry and the 2019 edition is composed of 75 corporate holdings from across Canada, 36 featured products and 21 projects. Among them, ours: camelina seeds, a superfood, a source of vegetable protein, a new food introduced to the public and we are proud to be the first to offer it.

With its camelina seeds, Olimega won the prestigious DUX 2019 Award in the Products category – Ingredient – SME. This superfood has come a long way in recent years! Indeed, many Quebec Chefs already used it in cooking, from appetizer to dessert. Customers have been curious and over the past few years, demand has skyrocketed, so we decided to accelerate its release on the Quebec market and internationally. We are very thankful for this decision today, and the prize won at the end of January brought us a wave of appreciation from the industry for our innovation since our entry into the market.

An alternative to other seeds, especially chia, the camelina seeds distinguish themselves not only because it is local and from our Quebec soil, but also by its nutritional properties. In 11/2 tablespoon (15 g) of camelina seeds, we count 4 g of fiber, 4 g of protein, 7% of iron and 1.5 g of omega-3.

On the market they are available in sizes of 70 g, 250 g and bulk in several locations.

This means our seeds will continue to be talked about and that the future holds many possibilities for them!

Food Trends

The Quebec food trends in 2019 contribute to our success. In fact, Quebecers want more and more food grown here as well as vegetarian dishes. They also want gluten-free products that are as natural as possible, coming from Quebec companies that are eco-responsible. Good news, we meet all these criteria.
